working with maps, Understanding space and data

Activity 1

doing my very best to follow aling with the video tutorial. I ran into issues because my interface was different and I could not find the classic map templates first time using the cartography plugin and just very breifly messing about with changing colours an attempt at highlighting pedestrian and transit routes mucking about making the colours look nice and just seeing what things look like looking at how colours appear on different scales looking at significant places and just considering how different spaces could appear looking at significant places and just considering how different spaces could appear following a tutorial on putting down points of intrest by mapbox while I try to understand interface differences following an introductory tutorial by mapbox, changing colours by large groups and importing components that arent already there following the same tutorial, extruding buildings, this is around where i figured out I could change the camera angle changing greenspace and natural park coours and changing colours depending on zoom showing that colours change depending on zoom following a tutorial by mapbox on visualizing data as cloropleth following a mapbox tutorial on visualizing data driven lines following the same tutorial and messing about with the style options back to the cartography plugin and messing around using photo collages ive made using the cartography plugin with collages ive made using the cartography plugin with collages ive made. all the photos in the collage were also taken by me using the cartography plugin with collages ive made. this collage includes a photo of the eclipse taking my favorite collage and making it a bit more moody with maphight, extruded buildings, rain, and ambiance a place from the spacial workshop 1 exploration. this is a big tree by the athletic center and beehives. I like the presence a place from the spacial workshop 1 exploration. this is a garden of heads outside the annie smith building. they may have been made by ceramics? I am not sure a place from the spacial workshop 1 exploration. The stream under the bridge between the C wing and B wing. it collects alge and has a lovely little waterfall sound. its a common gathering place a place from the spacial workshop 1 exploration. The back walkway behind the booster juice and between the J wing. it is usually quiet and is a lovely place to read a place from the spacial workshop 1 exploration. The art hall between the S wing and C wing, very colourful and very creative

Activity 2

following the mapbox tutorial using data driven circles playing with colour and size elements of data driven circles using data driven lines Using Cryptogram and a proper pallet to make a nice looking map following the tutorial the vector image I lazer cut onto the phone holder the vector put onto the template file the actual lazer cut phone holder Using corner pin and following the projection mapping tutorial figuring out how to map out sections. I had to go find my mouse because I dont use it half the time oops finding the shatter effect and seeing what it does adding the shatter effect to the first wall putting some images behind the shatter effect following along with the tutorial+ includes window mapping Shatter effect with images behind it slightly less opaque so that you can see the building behind it setting up the ball cc effect on multiple layers and adding in keyframes Ball effect on one wall, using the scatter and twist angle peramiters ball effect on both walls using the same effect just following the tutorial cc ball effect on both walls instread using ball size and ball radius. both walls are keyframed to move in tandem with eachother the partical playground effect! Starting the drip effect following the tutorial drip effect flowing seamlessly between two walls, I like how this one looks. changing the second wall colour on the drip effect following the third tutorial for touch desing. spent a good five minutes wondering why name changes weren't sticking before I realized the timeline had to be running keying out the walls, again was struggling because I kept accidentally closing screens and was running out of space to put them all and actually see what was happening. Theres so much going on! but it also seems incredibly intresting. the effect of the noise multiplied on the wall. once I got the walls keyed in it was relatively smooth sailing, it was crazy how quick the nodes created somthing having never used nodes before. my ideation board and notes for my concepts.

a garden full of sculptures of heads beside the walkway outside the Annie Smith building. This is an outdoor enviorment beside a red brick building. The heads seem to be made out of stone. The use for this space seems to be primarily intrest and decoration. I have not seen any plaques or signs describing any alternate meanings for the space. This is an outdoor walkway enviorment between the H wing building and the student center building. It is an enviorment made primarily of concrete and brick. there is a strip of natural space where trees are growing and underneath are some wooden chairs and benches. This space is used for leisure and comminity, the seating areas contain multiple chairs allowing for groups of people to gather but the location makes it so the enviorment is usually quite quiet. This is an indoor enviorment referred to as the art hall. It is a hall constructed of tile and presumably brick, concrete, or drywall, and many layers of paint over the years. it is located between the c wing and S wing right beside residence one. It is painted a fresh bright colour every year so that students can draw paint and illustrate on the walls. The purpose of the space is to promote community and creativity in the sheridan community.

this is the outdoor pathway between the H wing and the ssu, The concepts are a collaborative effort with fernanda, I drew the sketches that Im including. we redesiged the seating in the space so that it could be used for a variety of different things. the first concept converts the hall to a performance area for the music and theater students. ot converts one of the paved sections to a slightly eleveated stage with an awning like overhang to protect the performers and any equipment they may use without interfering with the nature that is alreaduy there. there is an outlet added behind it and more chairs added to the area. This space is similar in concept to the stage but adds in smaller more mobile seating to allow the space to be converted into a multi use enviorment. it allows small or large groups to converge and means the space could be converted to a markert, or a projection mapping event, or a performance, and people could gather with movable seating and not worry about blocking the path. the stools are foldable and can be hung on the tall wall, beside it is a manicured plant wall to help the astetics of the space. This redesign keeps the current functionality of the space as a walkway and quiet spot to sit on campus and improves it for that same purpose. it adds chairs to the second section of concrete, and adds in a lot of new plant growth. the growth of the trees are maintained and promoted and small ground cover plants are planted around the base that will thrive on low light. In between the trees and on the stretch of mostly empty unmaintained dirt after the second tree bushes and hostas are plamted. hostas are perrenial, can do well in low light, and are adapable to a variety of water conditions. plants definetly can grow here because currently there is a large bush but it is unmaintained and does not look cared for. proper care for plants here like the ones in front of the j wing get could promote a lot of growth and I think there are definetly plants that could thrive. As well lighting like simple lanterns or string lights could be hung to help compensate for how shaded the area is by buildings without feeling abrasive and create quite a cozy enviorment. This Idea i think is by far the most plausable, especially with school collaboration with the gardening club or whatever company they contract for landscaping.

Final Project 2 Design

The result of project 2, I took the projection mapping path and created a nerative about how climate change is going to damage and change both the natural world and the cities that we have built.
